Hearn reimagined

I arrived back in Eau Claire with intense relief, despite the heat and anxiety that were both making it hard to breathe. The night of my arrival I lay in bed distracting myself with music; the sound, at first comforting, became dismal as the evening started and the hues of the room cooled. Strum, strum, strum- wail, wail, wail -strum, break, wail; until everything seemed a heap of strings and minor chords.

This was a time a good time to get fresh air.

Stretching my arms and breathing, it occurred to me it was just nervousness. A light rain fell and so I tipped my head back to let it catch my face. I reminded myself why I returned and why I should stay. I began to relax. Besides, I could always visit down South whenever I wanted.

But the charm of New Orleans weakened and the Northern sky dark and immense was pigmented like Iodine, when I saw the brilliance of the moonlight on the treetops. I got it in my mind to stay out there as long as it was beautiful.

And so I saw the sunrise over the hills in Wisconsin.
